What’s the deal with Kush, Colorado?

A town of 120 people in Colorado that received an exponential boom in the economy when a marijuana grow operation popped up in its border is trying to change its name to Kush.

Still called Moffat, Colorado, the founder of the operation Area 420, Mike Biggio, is leading the effort to change the name in hopes that it will attract more tourism to the town.

The mayor seems supportive, and it looks like he has the support that he needs for the title swap.

“Change is always good. The most dangerous phrase is, ‘We’ve always done it this way.’ That’s the death of society,” Cassandra Foxx, the mayor of Moffat, tells the Denver Post.

The town is making a huge profit off of excise taxes, with $400,000 coming in last year from marijuana.

The name change will be discussed at an upcoming board meeting, and with the mayor on board, it looks like the majority of board members will be supportive.

So on your next road trip, make a stop in Kush, Colorado and get very high.
