New Jersey Marijuana Sales Starting Within Weeks

Just like New York, New Jersey has had a long road to getting weed up and running in the marketplace.

Voters approved legal marijuana in the state during the 2020 election, and legislation passed the Governor’s desk backing up the referendum last year. Since then, there has been little information on the opening of dispensaries in the state.

In order for Medical Marijuana businesses to start selling recreational weed, they need to prove to their local governments that they also have enough supply for their medical patients. If they can do that, they get approval and can sell to the public.

Per Governor Murphy in a radio interview: “If I had to predict—I’ve said this before, but I mean this literally in this case—I think we’re within weeks. I would hope in March that you’re going to see explicit movement on the medical dispensaries, some number of them being able to sell recreational.”

Keep an eye on those medical dispensaries near you next month!
