Colorado caps THC levels

Governor Jared Polis has officially signed into law a bill that regulates THC sales across the board for medical patients.

The bill, HB21-1317 would limit the purchase of concentrates (wax or shatter) to 8 grams per person. Also, a database will be created so that people can’t simply go to another dispensary to get more.

These new regulations will come into effect on January 1st, 2022.

It will be harder for people within the ages 18-20 to get medical marijuana cards, and the Colorado School of Public Health is tasked with analyzing research on higher potency marijuana.

Colorado has remained at the forefront of the marijuana industry, being the first state to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012. It’s fitting that they are the first to enact any sweeping THC caps, and it would not be surprising to see other states with legal marijuana enacting similar regulations in the coming years.
