One of the top U.S greenhouses for ornamental plants plans to partner exclusively with Colorado-based hemp seed production company Front Range Biosciences.
Coastal Greenhouses, which has six facilities in four states on the East Coast, joins a movement of ornamentals greenhouses that have shifted to the hemp market amid decreasing profit margins and other market pressures.
Under the agreement, the greenhouse will become an authorized hemp plant production nursery and exclusively distribute Front Range Biosciences hemp varieties.
“Front Range Biosciences’ hemp breeding and young plant production program provides farmers with the confidence that their crops will produce healthy yields and profits,” Coastal Greenhouses CEO Dave Foltz said in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to the statement, hemp seedlings and clones will be available for spring planting via shipments to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina and other hemp growing East Coast states.
“Coastal Greenhouses has a long-standing reputation for producing the highest quality young plants, leveraging state-of-the-art greenhouses and a strong, reliable, distribution network,” Front Range Biosciences co-founder and CEO Jonathan Vaught said.
“We’re thrilled to partner with a leader in the horticultural industry to reach growers across the eastern U.S. and provide them with the highest quality plants and proven varieties.”
