Film —  Christian Bale put on some pounds and prosthetics to portray former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney in “Vice”; the proven comedic duo Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly team up again with the detective spoof “Holmes and Watson”; Reilly can also be seen alongside Steve Coogan as classical Hollywood comedians Laurel and Hardy in “Stan and Ollie.”

Music — While album releases are on a holiday lull, indie rock icons The Strokes are plotting a ‘global comeback’ in 2019, beginning by headlining Spain’s  Bilbao BBK Live Festival in the summer.

Sports — NBA fans are looking forward to the bountiful Christmas Day schedule, which includes a marquee matchup between the reigning champion Golden State Warriors and LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers.

Fashion — In a rare three-way collaboration, Coca Cola is teaming with fashion label Billionaire Boys Club and the Japanese boutique Atmos Lab for a capsule collection of outerwear and tees; the Boston-based label Concepts honors Celtics superstar Kyrie Irving with the release of the Nike Kyrie 5 “Ikhet.”

Gaming — Nintendo has released special edition Switch controllers fashioned as replicas of the original NES joypad.

Events — Diplo, Kaskade, and Gucci Mane visit Dallas for the Lights All Night festival Dec. 28-29; South Lake Tahoe welcomes G-Eazy, Rae Sremmurd, and Tyga to the SnowGlobe Music Festival Dec. 29-31.

And legalization is on the table in Pennsylvania thanks to one tweet from the governor.
